Raw black metal can be pretty great, and even more so when it's got great melodies. This record follows that recepie, and the result is one of my favorite black metal albums of the year so far! Also, bonus points for throwing in a sample from the best yugoslav war song at the start of track 2.

This is simultaneously down-to-earth and otherworldly; truth is stranger than fiction, and consciousness a vast and dark sea—mysterious and captivating. I feel that coming out of this music.

While I’m a bigger fan of revenant marquis than I am of lamp of murmuur, his side of the split hits hard. Both Revenant Marquis and Lamp of Murmuur are some of the best one man metal bands.
